Fake Organic products

Hello organic food consumers,

Off late I am seeing lot of fake organic products coming into the shops at a very low price from so called organic farmers and some shop owners are selling at organic products price thus earning a huge profit and also encouraging these fraudsters. The fake organic products are cold pressed oil, snacks,  karrupatti i.e. palm candy, jaggery and dairy products these products or not branded and are sold in very low quality packing without any license from food authorities.

  What is the big fuzz?

Cold pressed groundnut, sesame, sunflower, and coconut oil are good for health but are you sure the source is organic, there are lot of such cold pressed oil units sprung in TamilNadu and started to have have in the market without any license and the producer's name.

Snacks are sold at a very low cottage industry price without any MRP tag, nutritional value or sometimes even the producer name and address is not mentioned.

Palm candy and jaggery source should be from organic fields and not from inorganic fields, the roots absorb the inorganic content from the soil, so how could this be organic. Jaggery is produced from sugarcane and calcium is added to the syrup and then poured in molds to clear the residue, is the sugarcane produced organically, if not how come organic.

Un-branded Dairy products packed in plain covers(not food grade), are in the market especially raw cow milk with lot of adulteration like mixing of urea to give density, detergent powder to give froth, sodium bicarbonate to make milk to be good for a longer duration and adding buffalo milk  and in worst scenario they even re pack standardized  pasteurized  milk to mask the chemical residues in the synthetic milk.  These milk are brought from various farmers in village at Rs.18 to 20 per liter and sold at Rs.60 to 70 per liter.

Consumers, if you have any problem regarding this you can ask the shop owner from where it has come, whether they have checked it ( get the details about the source) or ask them that you need to check on that producer (if you are not satisfied with their answer), I can tell you the answer will be negative, then you can judge yourself or the answer will be something provocative or diplomatic, then again it means problem. There are very very few organic producers in oil seeds especially in sesame and sunflower in Tamilnadu. In dairy only three or four organic dairy farmers are available in Tamil nadu (upto 900 lts per day), near Chennai only two who are capable of producing 500 lts/day, and they have branded their products with trade mark.

Consumers PLEASE BE CAREFUL IT IS YOUR MONEY AND HEALTH.
